Here in Japan, some grocery stores give you a few yen credit if you bring your own bag...many stores have "my bag" that you can purchase...not plastic, but sturdy cotton ones...that really last!
Now if we can just get everyone to use "my chopsticks" instead of the wooden ones (and just how many does it take to make a tree?!), that they just throw away!!
