End-of-year lists

Oh, how I love lists! This time, a negative turn to 2007:

Minivans - worse than we thought

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives those low-speed crash tests another dimension - cost for bumper repair. The minivan results suck particularly hard.

Coupons, yay!

The only credit card I have is a Visa. Therefore, online coupons for purchasing with your Visa are helpful to me around the holidays.

Holiday sanity check

Glad to see that at least one retail establishment refuses to assault consumers with 90 bazillion Christmas decorations and music until after Thanksgiving.

Engineer pioneers

It angers me to this day that women were still struggling to gain admission to schools like Georgia Tech even when they were making crucial, significant and invaluable contributions to the fields of computing and engineering. Stupid boys.

The girl who made my beloved laptop sleeve has outdone herself - cute handles, padded shoulder straps and a briefcase style.

Temporary, magnetic hemming is the way to go. Yay, science!

Why? Just why?

My mom made all of our Halloween costumes when we were kids, and in later years, we made our own. I sometimes wondered why we didn't just buy them because it was so much easier. Now I understand. The Bratz stuff I expect, but even Target is in on the game. Three-year-olds in fishnets? Sad.

No one will really be free until nerd persecution ends.

And this is, perhaps, not the best way to start the campaign.

Awwww, sugar

It has many aliases, including the sci-fi-sounding xylose, which Blogger's spell check does not like.

Art show fun

Attended the Virginia-Highlands Summer Fest this weekend and made some lovely purchases:
In an unrelated purchase, I recently bought a green and white custom-fitted laptop sleeve from Flicka Bags and I adore it!

The Simpsons in Springfield

Stole this one from my big sis (just one of many ideas, I assure you) - The Simpsons movie is going to premier in a Springfield somewhere, and the Willsons' hometown of Springfield, CO, is throwing its hat in the ring! Check out the article link at the bottom of the page, too - Friday H.S. Pride: Fun in Springfield.

Sunshine on a cloudy day

So it's a cold, overcast, melting-snow day here, and I don't have a ton of work to do so I was catching up on my friends' blogs...and somehow I realized that I had forgotten just how awesome my friends are. They put up with my random, infrequent visits, drove and flew from all over the country to see me get married, call and email me just to say "hi," raise amazingly cool kids that I don't get to see enough, and post wonderful things for people to read. I'm one lucky lady, y'all.

Our new addition

On New Year's Eve, Jarrett and I brought home our newest bundle of joy, Captain Picard. Yes, that was his name before we adopted him. He's 4 months old and is currently wheezing his way toward recovering from a cold. Poor baby.

He certainly has no shortage of energy, though. Our elder bundle of joy, Lucy, is still not entirely sure about this small, hissing fur-ball. Mostly, she's a bit scared. Poor baby, too.
